AARP You and Your Town Contest – Best Entries Will Win $10,000 !

Eligibility

You and Your Town Contest consists of :

• a sweepstakes which is only open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States (including District of Columbia and excluding Florida) who are at least forty-five (45) years old at the time of entry;
• a contest which is only open to  legal residents of Cincinnati, OH, Greater Manchester, NH, Long Island, NY, Los Angeles, CA, Phoenix, AZ, San Antonio, TX, Sioux Falls, SD, St. Louis, MO, and Seattle, WA who are at least forty-five (45) years old at the time of entry and who did not purchase any equipment for purposes of entering the Contest.

Contest/Sweepstakes Periods

The You and Your Town Contest consists of :

• a sweepstakes that began on October 1, 2014 at 12:00 a.m. ET and is scheduled to end on December 31, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
• a contest consisting of three (3) phases as listed below.
  Submission : Starts at 12:00 a.m. ET on October 1, 2014 and ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on November 12, 2014.
  Judging : Starts at 12:00 a.m. ET on November 13, 2014  and ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on December 1, 2014.
  Voting : Starts at 12:00 a.m. ET on December 2, 2014 and ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on December 31, 2014 .

Enter The Contest

From October 1, 2014 to November 12, 2014 , visit http://sweeps.aarp.org/yourtown/ and hit the “Get Started” button.  If you do not have an AARP account, you may create one for free. If you have one, login using your email address and password.

Then, submit one (1) essay that answers the question “Why is your town a great place to live?” to receive one (1) Contest entry. You may submit only one (1) essay during the Submission Phase.

Judging Criteria:

•     Creativity/Originality (30%);
•     Quality of Submission (30%);
•     Fit with Contest Theme (40%).

Enter The Sweepstakes

During the sweepstakes period (as detailed above) , visit http://sweeps.aarp.org/yourtown/ and hit the “Get Started” button.  If you do not have an AARP account, you may create one for free. If you have one, login using your email address and password to receive one (1) entry into the sweepstakes.

Then, read one (1) factoid to receive one (1) additional sweepstakes entry into the applicable Daily Entry Period. You may enter one (1) time per day during the Promotion Period and read fourteen (14) factoids per day to receive fourteen (14) entries into the Sweepstakes per day during the Promotion Period.

Contest Prizes

Nine (9) grand prize winners (One [1] per Community) will each receive $10,000.
Approximate Retail Value of each grand prize is $10,000.

Sweepstakes Prizes

Ninety two (92) sweepstakes prize winners (One [1] awarded per Daily Entry Period) will each receive one (1) AARP RealPad.
Approximate Retail Value of each sweepstakes prize is $189.

Total ARV of all prizes is $107,388
