America’s Favorite Animal Shelter Contest Rules
Eligibility :
The Contest is open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older as of the date of registration for participation in the Contest (“Participants”).
Timing :
The Contest begins at 12:00 AM (Pacific U.S. Time Zone) on September 22, 2008, and ends 11:59 PM (Pacific U.S. Time Zone) on November 1, 2008 (the “Contest Period”).
Prize (s):
There are four award categories totaling $21,000 in value:
- One (1) “Grand Award”: $10,000 cash will be awarded to the Shelter who receives the most votes from Participants during the Contest Period;
- Four (4) “Participation Awards” totaling $5,000 will be awarded, as follows: $3,000 cash will be awarded to the Shelter who receives the second (2nd) highest number of votes from Participants during the Contest Period; $1,000 cash will be awarded to the Shelter who receives the third (3rd) highest number of votes from Participants during the Contest Period; and $500 cash will be awarded to each of the Shelters who respectively receive the fourth (4th) and fifth(5th) highest number of votes from Participants during the Contest Period;
- Five (5) “Weekly Awards” totaling $5,000 (donated by Adopt-a-Pet.com), will be awarded, as follows: For each of the below stated five Weekly Periods completed during the Contest Period, one (1) Shelter will be selected by random drawing from among all Shelters who receive at least five (5) eligible votes during the applicable weekly period, to receive an award of $1,000 cash:
Week 1: Monday September 22, 2008 12:00 AM to Sunday September 28, 2008 11:59 PM
Week 2: Monday September 29, 2008 12:00 AM to Sunday October 5, 2008 11:59 PM
Week 3: Monday October 13, 2008 12:00 AM to Sunday October 12, 2008 11:59 PM
Week 3: Monday October 6, 2008 12:00 AM to Sunday October 19, 2008 11:59 PM
Week 5: Monday October 20, 2008 12:00 AM to Sunday October 26, 2008 11:59 PM
(Each drawing to be held the week after the applicable Weekly Period as soon as commercially practical; and, for purposes of this Contest, all times are stated in Pacific U.S. Time Zone); and
- Twenty (20) “Recruiters Awards” comprising 20 Dog.com gift certificates worth $50 each will be awarded, as follows: The top twenty (20) Participants who recruit the most Participants to vote for a qualified Shelter during the Contest Period will each qualify to receive one (1) Dog.com gift certificate.
The Grand Award, Participation Awards, Weekly Awards and Recruiters Awards shall collectively be referred to herein as the “Awards” unless otherwise indicated.
Only one Shelter is eligible to receive a Grand Award or a Participation Award.
No Shelter is eligible to receive more than one (1) “Weekly Award” even if having met the criteria for receiving more than one Weekly Award. Each Shelter that is awarded a Weekly Award is also eligible to win the “Grand Award” or a “Participant Award.”
In the event of a tie for any Award (in which more than one winner is eligible to receive), the Award winner shall be decided by a tie breaker, as follows: the winner shall be the Shelter whose last vote was first received by Care2.
